Sun Valley, Idaho. . . . . . . The Sun Valley area is a long renowned anglers paradise. Idaho Basecamp, an Idaho non-profit benefiting youth outdoor education, began producing the Sun Valley Single Fly in 2020 as a way to create community and interaction with nature. In 2022 the event has been revived as a means to continue community connection and also to raise funds to support youth outdoor education. The Sun Valley Single Fly (Single Fly) is a unique fly fishing competition where the rules are simple. Anglers (or their team) pick a single fly to fish with for a two-hour window. Once your fly is gone – you're done. Scoring is based on number of fish caught with bonus points for length. Single Fly anglers will fish the Big Wood River, one of Idaho's famous Blue Ribbon Trout Streams. The Wood, as locals affectionately know it, runs from North to South throughout the entire Wood River Valley and is a dream for beginners and experts alike.
