Event Description:
Join naturalist Kristin Fletcher for a free evening walk on Wednesday, May 14, along a portion of the new trail system up Slaughterhouse Canyon, just east of Bellevue. Participants should meet at Hop Porter Park, leaving at 5:30 PM, or at the south side of Bellevue’s Memorial Park, leaving at 5:45 PM. The hike will conclude between 7:00 – 7:30 PM. Participants will learn about the fascinating Sagebrush Ocean in our midst. We’ll share a little about the local geology and mining history of the canyon and then saunter to a fine spot overlooking the Wood River Valley, observing spring blooms along the way. Travel will be mostly easy walking with a very short, moderate stretch on an uneven surface. Please, no dogs.
