WHO: Community mediation specialists with Idaho-based NeuroMediation Group. The City of Ketchum, in partnership with Blaine County, contracted NeuroMediation Group to develop and administer the program. ABOUT: The Housing Mediation Project is free mediation program providing Blaine County landlords and tenants with an avenue for resolving housing-related issues without filing an eviction with the court. Mediation services are available to landlords considering filing for eviction and tenants facing eviction. Mediation is a neutral third party -- not an advocate for the tenant. WHY: Mediation is a well-established, cost-efficient, fair, efficient, and confidential process for resolving disagreements. A mediator is a neutral third party -- not a tenant advocate. In mediatio?n, the parties have ownership and control over the outcome versus receiving a judgment in court. Payment arrangements made in mediation, are paid 93% of the time, verses 37% when a judge orders a cash award. Landlords are unsuccessful in court 37% of the time.
