Footlight Dance Centre, under the Artistic Direction of Hilarie Neely, presents the dance production of “HANSEL & GRETEL”, Friday/Saturday, May 9-10, 7:00 pm and Sunday, May 11, 2:00 pm in the WRHS Performing Arts Theater at the Community Campus, Hailey. This being “Footlight’s 30^th Year Celebration”, “Hansel & Gretel” is new to Footlight’s repertory of dance performances. This story is a well-known German fairy tale published by The Brothers Grimm in 1812. It was composed as an opera by Engelbert Humperdinck in 1893 and put into animation in the 1950’s, but has never been set to original music for a ballet. There have been numerous theatrical productions, but not as many dance performances choreographed to this tale. We have wonderful surprises in store with the music, dances and sets to fill your imagination. The journey of our heroines is sure to warm your heart. Our production will feature Shea Slanetz (Hansel) and Isabella Cronin/Bryn Downey, dual cast as Gretel with Annie Ashfield, graduating senior, as the Queen of the Forest and Lemuel & Bronwyn Reagan (brother and sister) playing the parts of the Woodcutter and his Wife. The Gingerbread Witch will be played by Lauren Robideaux,. There are 180 talented young dancers who will grace the stage for this production.

Footlight brings programs to children ages’ 4-high school throughout the year at their main studio located in the Community Campus, Hailey with satellite studios at Nia of Sun Valley in Ketchum, and the Grange Hall, Hailey. All tickets are $ 6.00 and available in advance at Inconoclast Bookstore, Ketchum and The Modern Mercantile, Hailey. Pre sold tickets are encouraged. Choreography by instructors Christina Arpp, Peter Burke, Shellrae Garnes, Julie Fox, Michele Minailo, Hilarie Neely, Anne Winton and guest choreographers Yurek Hansen and Sheena Phelps will entertain the audience.
