Event Description:
Hailey Armory Grand Opening and Memorial Day Celebration
The community is cordially invited to attend a Grand Opening of the newly remodeled Hailey Armory. The Idaho National Guard will, through the course of the weekend, be celebrating its new presence in Hailey. After an 18-month, $1.26 million remodel, the Idaho National Guard‘s Hailey Readiness Center (Armory) will hold an extended opening ceremony.
Schedule of events:
Saturday, May 28th
12:00 Noon - Ribbon cutting with Mayor Rick Davis and Idaho Army National Guard Commander Brig. Gen. Alan Gayhart (refreshments provided).
Event includes:
- Speakers and a “Remember Ceremony” for prisoners of war and those missing in action from all conflicts.
- Unveiling of the 10 ft. tall x 30 ft. wide historical mural, done by Ralph Harris and volunteers from the local community, depicting soldiers from the Revolutionary War through the present time.
- 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. Open House at the Hailey Armory with military vehicles and equipment displays, a weapons simulator, a rock climbing wall and a bouncy house for youth.
- 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Community Dance with Idaho National Guard‘s 25th Army Band performing.
Sunday, May 29th
- 11:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Open House at the Armory with military vehicles and equipment displays, a weapons simulator, a rock climbing wall and a bouncy house for youth.
Monday, May 30th
- 11:00 a.m. – Noon Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Hailey Cemetery.
- 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Retired Col. Gail Halvorsen, the - Candy Bomber of the Berlin Airlift in 1948 - 1949 will be the guest speaker at the Armory.
