Name: Guided Gallery Walk with Wendy Jaquet
Date: December 27, 2013
Time: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM MST
Event Description:

Former Idaho legislature democratic representative Wendy Jaquet will lead a free guided art tour on Friday, Dec. 27, 5-8 p.m. for Gallery Walk. An offering by the Sun Valley Company’s Recreation Office, Jaquet’s guided tours leave from the Sun Valley Resort on the Mountain Rides 5:12 p.m. bus.

The tour is a very intimate experience, which also includes Jaquet’s Sun Valley history and other additions such as talking about who use to dine and drink at Michele’s Christiana or a few juicy tidbits about Sun Valley and Ketchum life. Jaquet represented Idaho’s legislative District 25, which includes Blaine County, from 1994 to 2012. She was also a co-founder of the Sun Valley Gallery Association, which launched more than 30 years ago.

“The community has given to me, and I enjoy doing the tours,” Jaquet said. “We walk about nine blocks, see the whole town, learn about the Town Square, who might be celebrating an anniversary in business and what the Fourth Street Corridor means. I do a preview the day before and go to each gallery to feature something I like. We have an incredible gallery scene.”

The one-hour and half tour begins at Gilman Contemporary next to Iconoclast Books on Sun Valley Road and continues its route to Sun Valley Gallery Association galleries going west toward First Avenue including Gilman Broschofsky Gallery, Wood River Fine Arts, An Expressions Gallery, Frederic Boloix Fine Art, Jennifer Bellinger Fine Art, The Sun Valley Center for the Arts, Gail Severn Gallery, Friesen Gallery, Harvey Art Projects USA
and Kneeland Gallery.

The Sun Valley Gallery Association, a non-profit organization, is a respected and leader for the visual arts in Ketchum. The member galleries in the association host nine gallery walks every year where many visitors and residents enjoy art from old masters to contemporary rising stars. Often, artists appear in person for Gallery Walk opening exhibitions.

“Many people ask what it’s like to live in Sun Valley,” said Jaquet. “The tour is mind blowing for so many people and, often, I have repeats. Art and culture is a main attraction to Sun Valley. Gallery Walks offer a quality of life experience for our community and visitors leave believing it’s an incredible place.”

The Gallery Walk and arts scene in Ketchum is top-rated and with Jaquet’s tour, it becomes a personal experience. Join Jaquet for Gallery Walk on Friday, Dec. 27, at 5 p.m. and enjoy another quality cultural experience in the valley during the holidays.
