Name: Environmental Advocates Alliance Meeting
Date: April 3, 2017
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM MDT
Event Description:
Join the Environmental Resource Center (ERC) and Idaho Conservation League (ICL) at the ICL Ketchum Office for this pop-up Environmental Advocates Alliance meeting. This meeting will focus on Idaho State Department of Education’s science standards redevelopment. For the first 30 minutes of the program, participants will learn about local, state, and national legislation focused on science standards. Participants will then have the opportunity to learn which tools are available to them and what actions they can take to make their voices heard on issues that are important to them. Time and materials will be provided during the second half of the program for participants to take immediate action should they choose. In April, the Idaho State Department of Education will be soliciting public comment on the science standards, including the portions that were cut this year. The comment period will be open from April 5-26, and public hearings will be taking place starting on April 11 and running through April 20. Hearings are tentatively scheduled for Twin Falls, Fort Hall, Idaho Falls, Boise, Lewiston, and Coeur d’Alene. All community members are welcome to attend.
