The Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition “Hometown Teams” is HERE!!
Sports are a national obsession and have a broad cultural impact. As individuals, what sports mean to us depends on our interests and values. We play sports to stay in shape, to quench our desire to compete, to stay young and to just have fun.

Real-life hometown teams are reflected in film and television, visitors will open DVD cases to reveal the real teams, towns, and stories behind some of the most famous sports movies like the Milan (Indiana) High School basketball team that inspired Hoosiers. The exhibit also has an interactive element that will show visitors how sports imagery emerges in our language.

The Hometown Teams exhibit is open to the Public and admission is free! Go through the exhibit and find out how sports has shaped America and the Wood River Valley. The Exhibit is open between 10am and 4pm, Monday through Friday. It is located at the Interpretive Center in the red building at Wertheimer Park (781 South Main Street) to enjoy the exhibit. The exhibit will be here only until September 6th.
