“HAILEY DAYS OF THE OLD WEST – THE BEST SMALL TOWN 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION IN THE WEST”

It’ s happening in Hailey, Idaho for the 4th of July!  Hailey offers up perhaps the most quintessential small town 4th of July celebration in the west. This year the Hailey Days of the Old West, July 1-4, plays host to the exciting Sawtooth Rangers rodeo, the big 4th of July parade on Main Street with colorful entries and plenty of horses, antique markets, pancake breakfasts, a children’s carnival, plenty of live music, a spectacular fireworks display, the popular Wood River Land Trust’s RiverFest, and new Tutus and Tennis Shoes 5K Run.  There is plenty to do and exciting entertainment for all ages.  
 
Here is the run-down of what is happening in Hailey throughout the weekend…
 
Sawtooth Rangers 4th of July Rodeo: Rodeo is a proud tradition in the West and in Hailey the Sawtooth Rangers have held an exciting professional Days of the Old West rodeo, featuring some of the best riders and stock in the country, over the 4th of July weekend every year since 1947 – that’s 69 years! Each night pre-rodeo entertainment starts at 6:30pm with Queen Contestants Freestyle Reining Competition, Mutton Bust'en July 2nd and 3rd and Home Town Bull Riding on the 4th. There will also be Family Rodeo Entertainment.
  • Dates/times: July 2 -July 4, 7:30pm (pre-events start at 6:30, doors open at 5:30pm)
  • Family Night is July 2 – one child per adult admitted free
  • Tickets: General Admission only – Adults:  $11 plus tax pre-purchase; $15 at the gate
              Children 10 - under:  $6 plus tax pre-purchase, $10 at the gate
Tickets are on sale at the Hailey Welcome Center and all three Atkinsons’ Market locations.
 
Hailey Antique Fairs:  Nothing is more fun than browsing for unique treasures at a well-curated antique show, and the Hailey Antique Fairs have some of the best antique vendors and wares in the region.  You will be sure to find that perfect one-of-a-kind something!

On July 4th
7:30 – 10:00am: Pancake Breakfast 
Blaine County’s 4H Leadership Council will offer up a hot full breakfast of homemade pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and more at the Grange Hall in Hailey.  It’s the perfect way to fuel up for the long, fun day ahead.  Tickets:  $5 per person and $15 for immediate family member group.
 
9:00am - Tutus and Tennis Shoes 5K Run/Walk
Tutus and Tennis Shoes 5k is a fun run/walk to support the Sun Valley Ballet Foundation and to ensure that they can provide high-level dance instruction and performance opportunities with affordable tuition, retain small class sizes and make available financial assistance and scholarships.  The first 40 participants will receive a free race tutu!  Your registration includes a free post-race hot dog, beer (21 and older) or lemonade.  Preregistration costs are $25 adult, $15 senior, and youth 17 and under. 10:00am – noon - Pre-Parade Party with Bloody Mary Challenge
A new pre-parade party will be held on Croy Street and some of Hailey best bars and restaurants, including Hailey Hotel, The Red Shoe, Restaurant 103, Sun Valley Brewery, and Zou 75, are competing to win the “best Bloody Mary’ challenge. Who deserves the honor? Bragging rights are on the line.
 
12 Noon - Hailey Days of the Old West Parade
Over 75 enthusiastic parade entrants march down Hailey’s Main Street to delight the crowd! This year’s parade theme is ‘Red, White and Blue, We Celebrate You’ and the Grand Marshal is Hailey Fire Chief Craig Aberbach. Parade Entry registration can be made through The Chamber, www.valleychamber.org
 
Hailey Days of the Old West Parade is produced by The Chamber and the City of Hailey.  Major sponsors include Clear Creek Disposal, Evans Plumbing, Friedman Memorial Airport, Rocky Mountain Hardware, Power Engineers and Hailey Rotary.
 
1:00pm – 5:00pm - 3nd Annual Wood River Land Trust RiverFest
After Hailey’s July 4th parade, continue your Independence Day celebration with a stroll down to the beautiful Draper Wood River Preserve and Lions Park along the Bigwood River for some warm sun and family fun.  Enjoy food, music, kids’ activities, educational nature programs and more.  Bigger and better than ever, this year’s RiverFest will include great local food (with free Toni’s ice cream!) and craft vendors, as well as a beer garden and a lot more kids’ activities, including the Spirit n` Motion Kids’ Carnival, a Trout Unlimited Kids’ Casting Clinic, and Rock Painting with the Friends of the Hailey Library. The Land Trust will also be offering Guided Nature Walks of the flood ravaged preserve. RiverFest will close out with a free concert with local favorite Up A Creek and headliner The Rebecca Scott Band.  Event sponsors include The Chamber, Rocky Mountain Hardware, Idaho Lumber, and Twin Falls Subaru.

1:30pm – Jersey Girl 3rd Annual Patio Party
Join the after parade fun with music provided by three DJs, yard games, cocktail bar, beer and regular lunch service.
 
7:30pm  (pre-rodeo entertainment starts at 6:30om) – Sawtooth Rangers Rodeo
This high kickin’ western annual tradition will entertain young and old at the Hailey Rodeo grounds. All seats are general admission, doors open at 5:30pm, arrive early for the best seats.
 
Dusk (9:30-10:00pm) - 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza
The City of Hailey proudly presents a 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza that is simply spectacular.  Watch the show from your favorite spot in Hailey and celebrate a fitting end to a fabulous 4th   of July. KECH 95.3 will broadcast a soundtrack for the Hailey Fireworks.
