Cowboy Up in Hailey at the Rodeo

Hailey, Idaho….  Rodeo is a proud tradition in the West and Hailey is hosting several top rodeos this summer at its new state-of-the-art rodeo arena at Wertheimer Park, located at the entrance to the city.  From the excitement of bull and saddle bronc riding and events like calf roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, along with music, food and those talented and entertaining rodeo clowns, there are plenty of reasons to come and celebrate this important part of the heritage of the American West and Mexico.
 
  • Mexican Bull Riding Gran Jaripeo:  Sunday, July 20
New to Hailey this year is the Gran Jaripeo, an authentic Mexican bull riding event featuring both Mexican and gringo “vaqueros” testing their metal against some tough, ornery beasts.The event will alsofeature Mexican music, food, and fun contests for both children and adults.Presented by El Parrilito Saloon.
Doors open at 4:30pm, event starts at 5:15pm.  Tickets are $15 in advance (more at the door) and can be purchased at Chapala’s Restaurant in Hailey and Mi Pueblo in Bellevue.  For details call 208-320-4604.
 
  • Professional Bull Riders of America (PBR): July 25
Witness a night of heart-pumping action as some of the country’s top bull riders compete for prizes.Professional bull riding is a fierce, rough, and grueling sport with roots deeply imbedded in American culture. It's America's original extreme sport, and is as equally exciting for the spectators as it is for the competitors.  Presented by Sun Valley PBR. 
Time: 7:00pmTickets are $20 if purchased in advance, $23 at the door.Tickets can be purchased at the Hailey Chamber/Visitor Center, Atkinsons Markets in Hailey or through www.sunvalleyprb.com
 
  • Intermountain Pro Rodeo Finals (IMPRA): August 30-31
Watch the best of the best professional cowboys in the intermountain West compete in the final rodeo of the summer season.Events include saddle bronc, bareback bronc, stock saddle bronc and bull riding, tie down, breakaway and team roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing.
Time: 6:00pm on Saturday, August 30, and 2:00pm on Sunday, August 31.Tickets are $ 12 for adults, $6 for children 5-12, children 4 and under are free.Tickets are available at Hailey Chamber/Visitor Center, Atkinsons Markets in Hailey and at the door.   For more information call 208-521-7708.
