Contra/Square Dance on Saturday February 18, 2017, 7 to 9 pm, with live band and caller Strings Attached, at the Grange Hall, 609 South 3rd Avenue in Hailey, the best wooden dance floor in the valley. The string band from Twin Falls will be on stage with their caller David Quinley. Contra and square dance is a lively type of folk dance involving social interaction between formations of dancers: in lines, squares or circles. Pay at the door: $12 for adults, $6 for teenagers. Free for accompanied kids 12 and under. Attendance is limited to 70 people. This event is sponsored so entry fee is lower than previous dances. Our folk dancing event is a family-friendly activity for all ages. Singles and beginners are welcome. All the steps will be taught, and no partner is necessary. The event is a community celebration. It is about meeting new friends, socializing, dancing and having an enjoyable experience together! The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with an optional potluck dinner. Gluten-free or other food sensitive participants are welcome and should label their dish accordingly. Bring wholesome food to share, as well as your plate, fork and water bottle. Dishware is available onsite as long as you are willing to wash your own dishes. Dancing will begin at 7:00 and end at 9:00 pm. Please arrive before 7 pm. Please bring and wear clean shoes that will not mark the floor. This event is organized and sponsored by members and friends of the Upper Big Wood River Grange.
